Crowd-funding a watch

The temptation to ask your friends and social media followers to dip into their own pockets in order to fund your horological addictions is a tempting proposition. And it’s what Stephen Mansfield and Daniel Blunschi have done. Well, sort of.

The pair are behind a fledgling watch brand called Singularity by Swiss Reimagined that seeks to crowdfund its patented concept, the world’s first watch to be able to accurately display both hours and minutes with a single moving hand.

A personal consultation with the watch designer, 3 design iterations a piece made for you.  Only 10 are available, from CHF50,000.

SNGLRTY was conceived in Hong Kong and crafted in Switzerland. The micromechanical module to achieve the One Hand Indication (OHI) is positioned above the mechanical
movement. The distinctive hour hand frames the minutes beside the relevant hour, resulting in a watch face that is composed of up to five visible discs. Overcoming the micromechanical challenge and receiving the patent for this evolutionary time display were just the first steps for the two entrepreneurs. The next step is bringing the timepieces to the world at large and obtaining the backing to develop a complete range of OHI timepieces. Enter a 30-day crowdfunding campaign, taking place from February 28 to March 30, with the goal of raising $100,000.
